What Is an MT5 Expert Advisor?

An MT5 Expert Advisor is a program written in MQL5 that trades automatically inside MetaTrader 5. You set the rules — entry, lot size, stop-loss, take-profit — and the EA watches price and executes without delay or emotion. Unlike manual trading, it scans EUR/USD, GBP/USD, XAU/USD and 28+ pairs at once, fires orders in milliseconds, and respects your risk on every trade. MetroHyp builds each system in clean MQL5 so it runs efficiently in the Strategy Tester and on a live VPS at 10–30ms to your broker, with 99.9% uptime and sub-50ms order routing on load.

A good EA does more than place orders. It handles spread widening, slippage, session filters and news pauses so you avoid bad fills. Every build includes an indicator buffer that does not repaint, inputs you can tune (lot %, magic number, max spread, trading hours), and a dashboard panel showing positions, daily PnL and equity drawdown. We also ship MQL4 versions for MT4 and bridge to Python or TradingView webhooks when logic needs external signals. Typical deliverables include source .mq5, compiled .ex5, set files and a 14-day demo log. See forex bots and crypto trading bots for sibling systems, or start with backtesting to validate before live.

What Your MT5 Expert Advisor Includes

Built for the Strategy Tester and live markets — no repainting, no heavy loops, no hidden risk.

Non-Repainting Logic

Signals close on the bar they form. No future-looking buffers that inflate backtests and fail live.

Multi-Currency Engine

One EA trades 6–12 pairs from one chart. Saves VPS resources and keeps risk centralized.

News Filter

Pauses trading 30–60 minutes around high-impact events. Reduces spread spikes and slippage on NFP/CPI.

Risk & Money Management

Fixed lot or % risk, trailing stop, break-even, partial close and daily loss halt. Equity protection hard-coded.

Optimization-Ready Code

Light loops and OnTick efficiency for fast Strategy Tester runs. Genetic optimisation completes in hours, not days.

API & Webhook Bridge

Connect the EA to TradingView alerts, Python analytics, Telegram or Discord via webhooks and DLL.

How We Build an MT5 Expert Advisor — 3 Steps in 7 Days

1

Spec & Logic Map

We document entry, exit, indicators, timeframe and risk. For existing strategies we import your Pine Script or MT4 code. You approve the logic map before we code. See validation approach.

2

MQL5 Coding & Tester

We code in MQL5 with clean inputs, then backtest 12–24 months in Strategy Tester with real spreads and slippage. We optimise with genetic search and run Monte Carlo on trade sequences.

3

Forward Test & Deploy

Demo forward test for 7–14 days, then VPS deployment with auto-restart and monitoring. Includes .ex5/.ex4, source .mq5/.mq4, set files and a 30-day fix window. Hosting details and risk controls included.

Platforms, Languages & Testing

We build in MQL4 for MT4 and MQL5 for MT5, with MT5 preferred for speed and multi-currency. Each EA is profiled for Strategy Tester throughput — no heavy loops in OnTick, OnTimer used for housekeeping. Backtests use tick data with variable spread, 99% modeling quality, and 1,000+ genetic iterations. Walk-forward checks across 3–4 rolling windows catch overfitting before you fund.

  • Inputs: lot %, max spread, magic number, session hours, news filter toggle
  • Indicator handle caching and bar-0 confirmation to prevent repainting
  • Set files (.set) per pair and timeframe for one-click optimisation loads

Integrations & Hosting

Most EAs run standalone, but we bridge when needed: TradingView webhook → MT5, MT5 → Python analytics, Telegram alerts for fills and halts. Deployment is on our hardened VPS or yours — Windows Server with 99.9% uptime, 10–30ms to London/NY brokers.

  • TradingView, Discord, Slack webhooks via WebRequest or DLL
  • Python bridge for ML filters or portfolio-level risk limits
  • VPS specs from 2 vCPU/2GB at $10–$30/month, scale to 4 vCPU for 10+ pairs

Cost: single-strategy MQL5 EA $400–$900, multi-strategy $1,000–$2,200. Compare packages and trading bots overview.

MT5 Expert Advisors — FAQ

How much does an MT5 Expert Advisor cost?

Single-strategy MT5 Expert Advisor costs $400–$900 in MQL5. Multi-strategy with advanced risk is $1,000–$2,200. VPS hosting adds $10–$30/month.

MT4 or MT5 — which should I choose?

Both. MQL4 for MT4 and MQL5 for MT5. MT5 is faster for Strategy Tester and handles multi-currency from one chart. We code both and bridge to Python.

Can you convert my TradingView indicator?

Yes. Pine Script becomes MQL5 or a webhook that triggers the EA with the same stop and position size logic.

How do you test before live trading?

12–24 months backtest in Strategy Tester with slippage/spread, then 7–14 days forward test on demo with news filter enabled.

Will it work on any broker?

Any MT4/MT5 broker — Exness, IC Markets, Deriv, Pepperstone and others. We tune for that broker's spread and commission.

What risk controls are included?

Stop-loss, take-profit, trailing, break-even, partial close, daily loss halt, equity stop and a mobile kill-switch. All hard-coded in the EA.
